2015 was a phenomenal year. That wasn’t to say that it didn’t have its challenges, but they were overcome by the grace of God and through the blessing of having an amazing support network of family and friends.
This year I want to make some resolutions, but I actually want to stick to them. So I call them goals, because until you achieve a goal, you’re always a work in progress.
Goal 1: Be Less Selfish
What do I mean by that…? Well I want to be more generous with my time; I already volunteer but I want to be there to support people and provide comfort, advice and council. I hope that I already do that for my close friends, but this year, I want to help people more readily; for example, doing more ironing to help my brother, and being more considerate about the fact that he may have had a busy or tedious day. I’d like to think that I behaved like that in 2015, but in 2016, I definitely want it to be more evident.
2 Thessalonians 3:13 (NIV) – And as for you, brothers and sisters, never tire of doing what is good.
Goal 2: Make the most of every opportunity.
I’m generally a very proactive and productive person who likes to indulge in as many extra-curricular activities as my time will allow. Last year, however I felt that I had too many Netflix sessions, so this year I’m cutting Netflix out of my life (and replacing it with Amazon Prime)!
I want to read, visit exhibitions, watch performances and engage in workshops. I’ll hopefully blog more too and seek to become more cultured and aware of current events, not just on the news but in arts and scientific research.
Ephesians 5:16-18 (NLT)16 Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days.17 Don’t act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do.18 Don’t be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life.
Goal 3: Prioritize
So I’ve had a blast making YouTube videos in 2015… But in actual fact, I planned to release way more videos. I somehow thought I’d have the time to film and edit a weekly video, forgetting that doing Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Chemistry takes up a lot of time. (And also forgetting that winter in England gives sub-prime daylight lighting for videos). So this year I want to be more realistic with what I can output.)
Goal 4: Make the world a better place
